I lost my way. I had cared so much about what this person thought about me that I let it override my own self-perception. I tried every which way to reconcile and justify their words, and I cried more tears and more times than I care to admit, but what I didn't do was stop and question what they had said. I just took it as truth. It wasn't.

Power, Influence and Structural Change
I've been thinking a lot about Power lately. I had a friend tell me that one of the reasons he was drawn to me was because he perceived me as "powerful". This caught me off guard. I don't think of myself as powerful, in the traditional sense, as much as "influential". My purpose in this… Continue reading Power, Influence and Structural Change
Moving Forward By Giving Back
As we close out the year, I find myself firmly rooted in gratitude. In many ways, 2020 has been the most difficult year of our lives. Like a rollercoaster ride with a side of whiplash, we are weathering an unraveling of our economy, navigating and adjusting to life during a pandemic, and we collectively survived… Continue reading Moving Forward By Giving Back
Leading With Love
Are you calling people in, or calling them out? Use Love as a leadership tool to make a meaningful difference in your relationships in 2021.
The Stories We Tell Ourselves
I've spent a lot of time thinking about stories recently. With their heroes and villains, plot lines and plot twists, stories create meaning and connect us. The Armor of Identity
Still coming down off a major training engagement, my brain is having a hard time decompressing. The "go go go" of non-stop learning, design, redesign, practice, launch, tweak, and present over the past 5 months was brought to you by Adrenaline: The You Can Do It hormone. It was an awesome experience - 300+ leaders,… Continue reading The Armor of Identity
Practicing Boundaries, or Putting Up Walls?
The way we protect our hearts, however, manifest in two distinct ways: We either put up walls, or we create boundaries. Walls are impermeable - nothing in, nothing out. Boundaries operate differently.
Becoming More Myself
It's always funny how the Universe rewards me when I take time to slow down. Thoughts flow freely and I settle into a different, more in-touch version of myself. It's a gift. I usually devour books on vacation, and this vacation has been no different. The raw truth and authenticity that Alicia Keys has gifted… Continue reading Becoming More Myself
Navigating Uncertainty
Let's just start right here: It's ok to not be ok. A myriad of emotions, the last couple weeks have rocked and unsettled most of us. Many of us are struggling with the physical distancing we have been asked to practice. Here in Minnesota, our stay-at-home guidance was just extended another 3 weeks. It's become… Continue reading Navigating Uncertainty
The Only Question That Matters
Whew! Happy new year, happy new decade! What a whirlwind several months has it been for me. Where to begin... My last blog in early December announced a foreshadowing of major changes coming into my world. What very few knew at the time was that I had made a court date to legally change my… Continue reading The Only Question That Matters
